The Latvian way to do things.
I asked for Lattelecom service "Internet without a phone". Of course, I still needed a phone line installed at my house (despite the name of the service). So technicians came over yesterday and installed a line. Today I called the company in order to activate the service and what do I hear:
Actually at the moment Internet is not awailable for you, because the line we could install can not provide Internet yet, only phone, but we are working on it and maybe we can come up with a solution.
I ask: why do you install me a phone line then if I claimed that I don`t need a phone?
They say: but you can`t have Internet without the phone line.
I say: but you`re saying that I can`t have Internet with the phone either.
They say: We don`t say that you will not be able to have Internet for sure but our technicians are working on alternate solutions and perhaps they can think of something. We`ll call you as soon as we have any news.
I say: Now that`s great.
Question: what a moronic idea is to install me a phone line (which I can`t use as this service presumes that I don`t get a phone number to use - and I don`t need it anyhow) first and only then come to a conclusion that currently I can`t have Internet?
