How come I dislike Windows updates
I`ve never had much trust in Windows updates, because in addition to taking up way more disc space than I would like them to they sometimes have a tendency to make matters worse and not better.
But I have a colleague who is very paranoid about possible attacks by evil punks from hell on his laptop, and thus he installed yesterday an optional Windows Vista high definition audio driver update. As a result of this action he soon noticed that his computer didn`t have a sound card anymore (or to be precise - that Winamp played no music). So he comes to me this morning. I do a little googling and see that lots of people have experienced the same bug lately. I tried to perform a system restore yet it abrupted unexpectedly and gave no results. Rollback of the driver did the trick and now the sound is back again, yet this only strengthens my conclusion that Windows updates are evil.
