And the Academy Award for Best Actress goes to Kate Winslet...

2008-12-09

Remember Extras? If you`ve seen it, you surely do. There was this bit involving Kate Winslet and Ricky Gervais talking about movies on Holocaust, which I`ve memorized (or copy-pasted from subscene:

Gervais: I`d just like to say, I think, you know, you doing this is so commendable. Using your profile to keep
the message alive about the Holocaust.
Winslet: My God, I`m not doing it for that. I don`t think we really need another film about the Holocaust, do we? It`s, like, how many have there been? You know, we get it, it was grim, move on. No, I`m doing it because I`ve noticed that if you do a film about the Holocaust, guaranteed an Oscar. I`ve been nominated four times, never won. And the whole world is going, "Why hasn`t Winslet won one?"
Gervais: Definitely, yeah.
Winslet: That`s, er, that`s why I`m doing it. Schindler`s bloody List. The Pianist. Oscars coming out of their arse.

And here comes "The Reader":

So now there`s no question - Winslet will finally get her Oscar!
By the way - from the trailer I learned that I`ve read the book that this film is based upon.
