Wow! I wouldn`t expect something like that to have been written at the very beginning of the previous century. Although at the middle of the story a part of the mystery was clear to me the ending was really stunning. And the story is not only about anarchy (though I like the subject). As a matter of fact, I don`t really understand the ending of it. Providing some information on the plot I can tell that Gabriel Syme, a police officer, by an accident becomes member of the supreme court of anarchists. But everything turns out to be quite opposite to what he expected it to be.

He sees how much more valuable is one burst of blazing light, one peal of perfect thunder, than the mere common bodies of a few shapeless policemen.
