Tim Burton asked Johnny Depp to star in his latest film. They had already worked together in "Edward Scissorhands" so Johnny probably thought this could be a perfect opportunity to gain good reviews from the critics and also it was his best chance to impersonate Michael Jackson. He doesn`t succeed 100% for he has a nose way too big in order to be mistaken for Michael Jackson.

It`s probably a good thing that I didn`t manage to finish this bashing of the film (if I bashed it in the first few sentences, I don`t really remember) because I watched this film once again and this time at the cinema and not some crappy screener where you don`t get half of the screen because the idiot that filmed it was and idiot. Anyhow, visually I say - wow! And I gotta admit that the ending was much better done in the film than it was in the book preceeding it. Yet there`s one more thing to clarify - whether Charlie was better done in the original film with Gene Wilder or not. But this version is really good, although I still think that it IS made for children and not for adults and I also found the singing Oompa-Loompas a bit annoying. But it was Roald Dahl`s idea and not Tim Burton`s (although Dahl wasn`t thinking about immitating Kiss and Beatles for sure). But that doesn`t stop CatCF from being a very good children`s film.
