If you don`t live and die for Depeche Mode you`re worth nothing. If you haven`t gone through a stage of your life when Depeche Mode was a symbol for everything you stood for you`re either a retard or you`re still pre-teen. If you don`t know by heart the names of the band members you don`t deserve a name yourself at all. The only excuse for not worshiping Depeche Mode is having switched to "The Cure" instead.
Sadly teenage angst isn`t such an important part of my life at the moment. And music like "Playing the angel" bores me a lot. It may be quite beautiful, for instance, I can`t deny the beauty of "Macrovision", "Lilian" and some other songs on this album but this just isn`t the stuff for me. It`s authentic electronic music this time, not similar to the bands last album that was too mainstream for my taste. But Depeche Mode isn`t for my taste at all, and that`s the problem. If an album has song titles like "A pain that I`m used to", "Suffer well", "The sinner in me", "Damaged people" etc. it isn`t exactly made for you tapping along it`s cheerful melodies. It works fine if you`re in the mood for depression, and knowing that it`s cold and autumny outside I probably should like it more than I do. But I don`t! I have nothing against some serious stuff but I don`t want any of it now.
