Latvia to participate in Eurovision - not so bad
Personally I have nothing against our countries participation in this year`s Eurovision Song Contest. Why?
1) if I got it correctly, the participation will be financed by private sponsors instead of the state, so it`s not really my competence to speak out for or against it;
2) according to the LETA news article there will be no national "qualification tournament" for Eurovision - thus there will be no expenses for that either (that`s a huge bonus, considering how weak these national competitions usually are);
3) the formula to determine the winner in the finals has been finally improved - 50% of the results will be given by a jury instead of human voting machines, so probably there will be less votes of the category "our 10 points go to our neighbours... (enter country name), our 10 points go to our neighbours... (enter country name) and our 12 points - to our beloved neigbours... (enter one more country name)". So in theory it should be better than previous years.
