Oficiāli šis skaitās pēdējais Iron Maiden zelta ēras ieraksts, kas iezīmēja atvadas no šīs lieliskās smagā roka blices slavas gadiem (ko pastiprināja grupas ģitārista Džonsona aiziešana pēc "Septītā dēla septītā dēla" ierakstīšanas). Taču šajā ierakstā Dzelzs Jaunava vēl rāda sevi labākajā gaismā. Pazīstamākā šī ieraksta kompozīcija ir visnotaļ astoņdesmitajiem raksturīgā un tomēr ļoti spēcīgā kompozīcija par prāta zaudēšanas tēmu - Can I play with Madness (video zemāk).

A young woman returns from a lengthy abscence to her lover just to dissapear again. In the process of searching for her her lover and best friend fall in love. Once again a Michelangelo Antonioni film doesn`t feature a lot of action. On the contrary - pretty much nothing is happening on screen for about 95% of the film. It is not a mystery about the lost woman but a drama or even a melodrama about the remaining people. Though it doesn`t mean that the characters on screen are more active than the ones that are invisible - most of the things they do (Claudia and Sandro are the names of the new-lovers, Anna is the lost one) don`t make very much sense to me. I know that it`s the way it`s supposed to be - real people don`t behave like machines and are confused quite often, but I still wouldn`t say that the film was a terrific experience, especially remembering how boring it was.

Tā nu ir sanācis, ka aizvadītās diennakts laikā HIM debijas albūmu noklausījos vairāk kā desmit reizes un pa nakti man iemigt traucēja galvā visu laiku skanošais "(Don`t Fear) the Reaper" kavers.

Kur tie gadi, kad es H-blokus uzskatīju par vienu no aktuālākajām grupām Eiropā? Tālu pagājuši, tas noteikti. Protams, šaubos, ka viņu mūzika mani jebkad būtu ieinteresējusi, ja ne tie traki jokainie un prikolīgie videoklipi, kas bija viņu pirmā albūma singliem (vai citādi es būtu Vācijā iegādājies legālu "Time to move" eksemplāru - kas to lai zina).

Viņš bija tikai vienkāršs divpadsmit gadus vecs zēns. Taču viena liktenīga nejaušība pārvērta viņa dzīvi. Tā Rūdijs Volcs kļuva par dubultslepkavu. Līķu Pēteris bija vārds, kurā viņu sauca.

Original review: A bit similar to `The Rules of Attraction` only this one shows more naked bodies. Two young guys send their girlfriends on a trip to Italy while they themselves go on a roadtrip with a woman that has discovered that her lover is cheating on her. I wouldn`t call the film bad but it didn`t impress me either. It`s not one of those pieces where you think about it after watching the film for a few days. I don`t think that it has any message, not that I desperately needed one. It rarely gets boring but still there is not so much to tell about the film.

Atzīšos godīgi - es pavisam nebiju ieinteresēts šī Krisa Roka stand-up comedy raidījuma skatīšanā. Vispār muldošie komiķi nav gluži mana iecienītākā humora variācija. Un vēl jo vairāk mani neinteresē rupjības bārstoši melnie amerikāņu kumēdiņisti. Tomēr es tiku piespiests to skatīties.

Iedomāsimies, ka šis nav apraksts albūmam, bet intervija. Es intervēju Džeimsu Hetfīldu - Metallicas dziedātāju. Protams, šāda intervija nekad netaptu, jo es neesmu mūzikas žurnālists un Hetfīlds parasti atsakās no garām intervijām blogiem ar 10 lasītāju auditoriju. Un tomēr...

Kurta Vonnegūta romāns "Ietupinātais" pēc paša autora domām uz viņa citu darbu fona būtu vērtējams ar A (amerikāņu sistēmā - 9), kas ir sliktāk nekā "Kaķa šupulis" un "Lopkautuve nr.5" un kas ir vienā līmenī ar "Titāna sirēnām", "Lai Dievs Jūs svētī, Rouzvotera kungs" un "Māti nakti". Tas tā - informācijai.

Let`s analyse each story separately (although they are quite close to each other in terms of style). The Sentence - a mystery about a man, who has a friend in Russia, and his half-crazed father. I didn`t really understand what it was supposed to mean. The Transformation - one morning a guy named Gregor awakes as a giant bug. Very dark and depressive. In der Strafkolnie - a devil-posessed officer shows to a traveler the meanest device for death penalty ever seen that is used for no apparent reason. Dreadful images appear in front of my eyes. A Starvation Artist - about man who`s starvation is a form of art. Disgusting at times, thrilling all the time. That Kafka was not a very happy person indeed. All those stories are quite amazing (although I didn`t get the meaning of the first one). An all time classic.
