Unikāli - recenzija par manu vienu no visu laiku mīļākajām grāmatām tā arī nav tapusi. Kas to gan būtu varējis gaidīt.

Kurtu Vonnegūtu es "iemīlēju" kaut kad ģimnāzijas laikos - precīzi vairs neatceros, vai tas bija 11. vai 12. klasē. Taču zinu, ka tas sākās ar "Kaķa šūpuļa" izlasīšanu un ka pēc tam mana lielākā interese bija dabūt savā īpašumā "Lopkautuvi Nr.5". Un liels bija mans pārsteigums, kad es atklāju, ka šī grāmata angliskajā oriģinālā ir atrodama manā grāmatu plauktā. Es to, protams, izlasīju un biju sajūsmā. Un, kad man skolā vajadzēja rakstīt referātu par kādu 20.gadsimta ārzemju literatūras darbu, mana izvēle krita tieši uz šo Vonnegūta romānu. Šo referātu, kas gan, protams, nav nekāda grāmatas kritika vai kas tamlīdzīgs, bet skolnieka "pārdomas", es šeit arī zemāk iekopēšu.

Киану Ривс явно не из тех актеров, которые стараются участвовать лишь в хороших и интересных фильмах. И "Джонни Мнемоник" такое утверждение лишь подтверждает. Можно сказать даже сильнее - это просто ужасающий фильм. Сама идея по себе идиотска до беспредела - в 20-ые годы 21-го века самым надежным способом перемещения данных является их имплантация в человеческий мозг. Герой Киану под именем Джонни и является таким вот курьером данных. В его мозге можно разместить целых 160 Гб данных (немногим больше, чем жесткий диск моего домашнего компьютера). Однако для сохранения всех этих данных ему необходимо было отказаться от памяти собственного детства, вот теперь он себе эту память и старается вернуть. Конечно, переноска данных в голове - это супер круто, только настоящие мужики пользуются подобной технологией, никто в 21-ом веке о шифрованных данных в интернете еще конечно не слышал. Мир, в котором живет Джонни Мнемоник, совсем не красив и не прекрасен - половина всех людей болеет какой-то отвратительной черной лихорадкой и всем руководит какая-то идиотская фармакологическая компания, которая тесно связана с японской Якудзой. Можно еще задать себе один вопрос - а почему мир будущего настолько похож на 80-ые прошлого столетия? Но странные визуальные решения были бы понятными (возможно), если бы в фильме было по крайней мере что-то стоящее. Сюжет - полный отстой, актерская работа Ривса и компании - маразм какой-то, музыка - омерзение, сама идея фильма - туфта. Вот в результате господину Лонго удалось создать фильм, который настолько плох, что моментами можно подумать, что это не вариация на тему "Бегущий по лезвию", а пародия на данный фильм. Хотя если это комедия - то и смешного в ней недостаточно, хотя сам Джонни мне по крайней мере кажется весьма похожим на Эша из "Army of Darkness". Кстати, я не верю что Ривс в этом фильме и для своих почетательниц из противоположного пола сыграл приятную роль - все же он тут похож на полнейшего придурка и даже Долф Лундгрен в роли чокнутого проповедника имеет больше харизмы, нежели главный герой, ну а его взаимодействие с "крутой" девкой Диной Мейер вообще отсутствует, и если эта девка могла в него втюриться, то она, наверное, и в куске дерева нашла бы положительные черты, которые можно полюбить. С точки зрения качества это один из наихудших фильмов, какие я только в этом году видел, по сравнению с "Джонни", например, "Невозможная миссия" - по крайней мере кино качества Ингмара Бергмана, а "Люди-Х" - отличное время провождение.

"Did you know that the memory of a goldfish is only three seconds long? Every time they turn away and see each other it`s like the first meeting. Aren`t humans when they fall in love the same?" That`s a very imprecise quote from the film, that stills gives the main message of the film. What is this film all about? It`s about how fragile relationships are and how stupid people are that just fall out from one relationship to be dragged into another? There`s quite a lot of heroes in this film, so it was a bit hard to keep every one of them in memory even during the film and it`s even more complicated now. Tom has a relationship with Clara, but starts cheating on her with Isolde. Rosie is David`s girlfriend but he doesn`t seem to care for her much. Instead he turns out to be gay and falls in love with a man named Red. Red is Angie`s best friend and a gay, Angie is lesbian and she has a crush for Clara so she turns Clara into a lesbian (oh, and that doesn`t stop Angie from making love to Red once - who cares that she`s lesbian and he`s gay). After Isolde has had an affair with Tom (and Clara has dumped him therefore) she has sex with Tom`s colleague Larry. When Tom finds out he`s a bit angry. Meanwhile Angie and Clara split up for Clara isn`t ready for a monogamous relationship. So she teaches Isolde the pleasure of womanly love. But Isolde isn`t ready for a monogamous relationship and has some sex with some one named Shane, and that lead to the collapse of this lesbian relationship (although Clara has something with her friend Conzo as well). Tom meets a college teacher named Renee that tries to change him. Tom learns to know Rosie and they nearly got married, but on the night before wedding Rosie has sex with another man and decides that she may not be quite ready for that. Angie has found a new girlfriend - a certain Kate and they decide to have a child but their plans go wrong when Angie founds out that she`s pregnant from Red. Nevertheless they decide to stay together and keep the child. And as a bonus they have two fatherly figures - Red and David who have formed quite a strong relationship. Oh, and Clara starts a relationship with Isolde from the beginning, whilst Tom has given up his dirty activities - he doesn`t tell anyone about goldfish anymore and he doesn`t offer women to read Rilke out loud for him, he marries Renee instead. And the film ends with Clara and Tom getting together and Clara giving him the goldfish speech.

Zemāk redzams teksts, ko par šo filmu rakstīju pēc tās iepriekšējās noskatīšanās pirms četriem gadiem. Paejot laikam un noskatoties to vēlreiz, pēkšņi sapratu, ka šī filma nemaz nav tik sarežģīta kā man iepriekš bija šķitis - tās sižets patiesībā ir pietiekami vienkāršs un "filozofija" saprotama. Nav tur nekādu baigāko triku un baigāko teoriju (raugoties uz to ar šodienas acīm), un vienlaikus šī filma nav arī tik ģeniāla, par kādu biju to iepriekš uzskatījis. Jā, tā ir laba, jā, tā ir interesanta, bet tās pārcilvēciskā kino sajūtas, ko tā man radīja iepriekš, tagad vairs nav.

Quite good, but no total breakthrough. Some quotes may be coming up later. I really liked the idea but at some times the story got over the top.

Good ol` Stanley Kubrick is good at creating main characters that the viewer should dislike but sometimes likes him as well. And this is one of those movies. There might be a little bit too much nudity but on the other hand it`s completely in place therefore it`s no big problem. Yeah, and this movie has "Singin` in the Rain" in it.

One of the worst if not the worst film in the category "teen movie" or stupid american comedy, as a matter of fact. A film that features BOTH Leslie Nielsen and Pamela Anderson just can be good. And all those stupid tit and butt jokes and being hit by a shovel in the face are not what seems to be total fun to me.

Did I expect this one to be good? No, I oughta be mad to await anything worthy. Therefore it was not a dissapointment but just a completely stupid movie.

A film made by Tom Green can not be good. It is an axiom. And it proves to be just right. I didn`t manage to watch the film entirely for it is dumber than anything I`ve ever encountered before. A wannabe comic drawer works at a cheese cafeteria, spanks his crippled girlfriend and pretends that his father fingers his little brother. I guess even `Ali G in Da House` could be better than that.
