Yesterday`s results at EURO 2008 finally brought the first sensations - France drew goalless against Romania and the Netherlands got an unexpectedly high victory against Italy. I know that my rankings did presume a draw in the France-Romania match, but I`m more than sure that this was considered a sensation nevertheless because despite its high position in the rankings Romania is undoubtedly considered an inferior team to France.

Today we got up much earlier than usual as we had decided to take the semi-annual trip to Madona. What have we lost there? We are not fans of this city but as we are in a life-long and devastating process of having two pieces of land put into the Land Register and as most of the tasks should be done in person and in Madona (around 160 km from Riga) going to Madona isn`t an unusual business for us at all (and, off course, we need to go there on work days because otherwise everything will be closed). So far our experiences with state institutions there hasn`t been exactly brilliantly pleasant. One occasion was especially thrilling, when upon returning to Riga I wrote this entry - The reasons why I love this country, I`ve also written down my speculations on the rapidity of the land registration procedure. Actually today wasn`t as bad as it could had been expected (with the exception of unplanned expenses for some bureaucratic crap) and if there had been less road works I might had come to work before 12:00, but so approximately 30 minutes were lost waiting. If all goes well the next trip to Madona (most likely to be taken in August) will be the last for some time.

How come should I like people just because they are happy (gay)? When I`m sad and lonely and they are gay and singing and dancing, why don`t they come to cheer me up, so I could be gay just like them? And as they usually don`t, I hate them.

Man patīk laba zinātniskā fantastika, patiešām patīk. Tāda, kura īstenībā ir vairāk nekā vienkārši zinātniskā fantastika, bet Literatūra. Vai arī tāda, kas ir vismaz ļoti aizraujoša lasīšanā. Bet šī nebūs viena no tām. Andrē Nortone, kurai nez kādēļ patika rakstīt zem dažādiem pseidonīmiem, tai skaitā šo romānu viņa parakstīja kā Endrjū Norts. Nezinu, vai ar to viņa mēģināja sevi pasniegt kā riktīgu veci - sci-fi meistaru (jo kā zināms zinātniskā fantastika tomēr diezgan izteikti ir vīriešu lauciņš), vai arī viņai bija vienkārši kaut kādas dīvainas noslieces uz pseidonīmiem, bet viens ir skaidrs, romāns no tā labāks tāpat nekļūst.

Braiena Secera orķestris ir viena no tām grupām, par kurām man parādījās interese kaut kad 2001.gada beigās - 2002.gada sākumā. Īsti vairs neatceros, kā tas notika, ka pa vidu manai "Magmas" un tamlīdzīgo grupu fāzei atradās vieta 30to gadu mūzikas atdarinātājiem, bet vēl joprojām es Seceru, Big Bad Voodoo Daddy, Squirrel Nut Zippers un viņiem līdzīgos reizēm klausos, lai gūtu kādas pozitīvas emocijas (jo citādi es esmu baisi depresīvs cilvēks, kuram patīk izdarīt iegriezumus savā miesā un kaktā raudāt, domājot par badā mirušiem kaķēniem). Un kas var dot tev labākas emocijas kā rockabilly karalis Braiens Setcers ar savu lielisko orķestri?
