Kazhes pierakstu burtnīca

"Amarcord" bija pēdējā no patiesi lielajām Frederiko Fellini filmām - "Kabīrijas naktis", "La Strada", "La Dolce Vita", "8 1/2". No šīm filmām "Amarcord" (jeb latviski - "Atceros") ir visvieglākā, būdama pamatā traģikomēdija, lai arī ar gana daudziem dramatiskuma elementiem.

"Akvarium" es mēģināju neveiksmīgi izmantot kā argumentu. Domāju, ka neveiksmīgi ne tāpēc, ka arguments bija vājš. Situācijā, kad Ženēvā kompānijas mājā vakarā izcēlās diskusijas par to, vai rietumu popmūziķi būtu gatavi par naudu uzstāties privātā ballītē pie kāda bieziķa mājās, mans kolēģis Sergejs izteica apgalvojumu, ka neviena rietumu estrādes zvaigzne tā nedarītu, kamēr pilnīgi jebkura krievu zvaigzne tā darīt. Es šim jautāju, vai viņš patiešām domā, ka Boriss Grebenščikovs būtu vieglāk gatavs pārdoties nekā, teiksim, Pinka. Un saņēmu atbildi - jā.

I`m far from the most enthusiastic fans of Latvian literature. I don`t follow who writes what, who was seen performing a hand job upon whom etc. Therefore this novel by Jochan Korin was a huge surprise for me. I expected this book to be either a luscious tale of women in the country or a stale story about WW2 where the great patriotic Latvian nazis fight the nitty commies with great passion and results. But it proved to be an excuisite crime story that is a riddle itself. It seemed to be a book done especially for me - a book of logic riddles, a book with a huge emphasis on playing cards and cracking codes. The most important thing about it is the fact that the riddles are interesting, memorable and fun. Quite unlike the ones in "The da Vinci Code". The central story goes around Matiss Ziemelis, a guy who has mostly only interest for crossword puzzles and playing cards but who`s also capable of some other things. He is asked by his friend from the university to help the local police to fight car stealers, but the whole book is much more about different stuff than just thievery. And I don`t mean masons by that - it`s a perfect book for a quest game, and a good game for sure - I have no doubt at all that something like "Monkey Island" could come out of this. And can you imagine anything better than "Monkey Island"? I can`t.

"Traģēdijas teātris", kā jau var nojaust, spēlē gotisku nāves metālu, lai arī pēdējos gados, kā esmu dzirdējis, grupa kļuvusi stipri popsīgāka kā savos agrākajos ierakstos - piemēram, īsspēlējošajā platē "A rose for the dead".

Dīvaini, ka es nebiju iepriekš ievērojis, ka šī grupa ir kārtējie vāciešu power metālisti iz Helloween un Accept nometnes. Tāpat dīvaini, ka man no viņu šī albūma dziesmām tā sauktajās "Kazhe collection" izlasēs bija iekļauta kompozīcija "War in the gutter", kas patiesībā ir diezgan nebaudāms skaņdarbs.

Fritz Lang. Does this name ring a bell for you? This is the director of "Metropolis" - the first feature-length sci-fi movie. He also directed this film that`s according to IMDB is the 49th greatest film ever. If I told you that it was made in 1931 you`d probably undestand that a film like this is quite hard to judge. Do you consider that old films deserve better ratings just because at the time nothing better was made? Or do you expect that a really good film will be able to stand out even 100 years after it was made? The storyline: a child murderer is plaguing the city of Berlin in something like 1930. The police can`t do nothing about him, so the regular criminals - thieves, burglars and other riff-raff - decide to catch him themselves. For the first half of the film Hans Beckert (the murderer) is on a hunt of little girls but after that he himself becomes the hunted. What`s weird is the sound - back in 1931 it was probably a common thing but I have never experienced a film that had only the sounds of people talking but no sounds of them walking or something like. There`s no music, there`s no city sounds, there`s absolutely nothing. Did I like it? Well, it was a bit too long for a film this old. The idea itself was a good one, but you can`t expect the level of suspence to be very high in a film that was made before WW2.

This is crap! Johnny Knoxville and Sean William Scott are two idiots living in the South of the US of A and they know how to have a good time - selling illegal alcohol and being chased by mad fathers with guns after they`ve made out with the daughters is the perfect plan for the Duke brothers. They also have a cousine named Daisy who`s played by pop star Jessica Simpson and that should only do porn movies - big tits she has, acting talen`t she hasn`t. Man, was her acting lame! Willie Nelson and Burt Reynolds also take part in the film but they are only better than Jessica. As a matter of fact no one would be worse than her. Only Pamela Anderson probably. There`s nothing more to say than this is a bullshit film for rednecks. I am not a redneck, so I say - it`s worse than bad, it`s worse than worse than bad. Even Sean William Scott has participated in better films, and he ain`t no Johnny Depp for sure.

"Skriešana ar šķērēm" mani pirmā pa īstam iepazīstināja ar Veirdu El Jankoviču - pirms tam biju redzējis "Smells like Nirvana" videoklipu un noklausījies kaut kādu aizdomīgu izlasi, kurā kā vēlāk izrādījās, gandrīz pusi dziesmu neizpildīja pats Veirds.

Nule esmu nonācis tik tālu, ka klausos Pantera. Tiek apgalvots, ka šīs grupas skanējums esot tāds, kāds būtu bijis Metallica`i, ja Hetfīlds un kompānija nebūt pārdevušies industrijai. Un te patiešām jāpiekrīt - uz kompromisiem Pantera neiziet un ar milnu pa galvu bliež bez pārtraukumiem (iedomāties mūsdienu Metalikas albūmā tādu kompozīciju kā "Fucking Hostile" patiešām būtu pagrūti, lai arī kāds nu 1992. gads ir mūsdienas?). Pa brīžam Pantera gan arī dara to pašu, kas patīk Hetfīldam - spēlē uz klausītāju emocionālakajām notīm, piemēram, kompozīcija Hollow savā pirmajā minūtē izklausās pēc kaut kāda "Pearl Jam", tiesa pēcāk atgriežas Panteras tipiskais skanējums. Ir skaidrs, ka lai klausītos šādu mūziku ir jābūt pārliecinātam Metalheadam, kāds es tomēr neesmu, līdz ar to ar pāris šī albūma noklausīšanās reizēm man bija vairāk nekā pietiekami, lai saprastu, ka nē - es negribu kļūt par Pantera cienītāju. Man labāk patīk Rozā pantēra, nekā šī blice, lai arī es varu piekrist, ka, piemēram, "Mouth for war" ir tīri forša melodija un ka "This love" ir interesanti apvienota balāde ar sātanisko rēkšanu. Bet mīnuss ir tāds, ka ķērcošie sātaniskie metālisti man vienmēr ir diezgan izteikti dergušies un Pantera šajā ziņā nav izņēmums, un man ir pie kājas, ka žurnāls Q ir šo ierakstu nosaucis par vienu no visu laiku 50 smagākajiem albūmiem. Lai jau. Es to nenosaukšu par vienu 50 labākajiem, ko šogad būšu noklausījies - un, lūdzu, iesūdziet mani par to!

Wild thing - you make my heart sing! That`s the song you most probably know The Troggs for. And you`ve also heard a cover of their another song - "Love is all around" was done by "Wet Wet Wet". But none of these tracks can be found in a "Mixed Bag". No, Mr. Mister! But that doesn`t mean that you won`t find anything useful in this bag. If you happen to be a romantic person you`ll probably find something in "You can cry if you want to" which goes in the same vein as "Love is all around". "Say Darlin`" is dumb but fun. "Marbles and some gun" is a typical song for an oldies collection. So is "Little Girl". "Purple shades" is a bit better than the two songs preceeding it. "Heads or Tails" is the most likely candidate for being the best song on the record, although it is also primitive like hell. "Hip Hip Horray" is good, although dumb once again. Yet who would await anything else from some troggs?
