Kazhes pierakstu burtnīca

The last weekend was really good. On Saturday we had some friends over for veggies and weenies in the garden, meanwhile yesterday we made a trip to the dune amphitheatre of Garciems (of course, the name is much more promising than the actual "amphitheatre" but that`s a different sory) and in the evening we headed for N.R&Nora`s place to watch some photos from his and Sergejs` work trip to India.

Migels de Unamuno, kā izskatās, ir bijis viens no 20.gadsimta sākuma spožākajiem rakstniekiem, lai arī man viņa vārds līdz pat šīs nedēļas sākumam bija gluži svešs, taču izrādās, viņš rakstīja ne vien saistoši, bet absolūti moderni un neapšaubāmi ir pieskaitāms pie modernisma autoriem (lai arī tolaik šis "žanrs" vēl bija stipri vien autiņos). Romānā "Milga" (kuru gan pats autors atkārtoti sauc par romīnu, skaidrojot, ka šādā veidā viņš atbrīvojas no nepieciešamības sekot romānam izvirzītajiem standartiem) Unamuno apraksta kādu vīrieti, kas iemīlas paputējušas dzimtas sievietē, kas spiesta strādāt par klavieru skolotāju, lai arī faktiski mūzika viņai riebjas. Šis vīrietis tikām ir nedaudz uz augšu pasists bagātnieks, kas dzīvo stipri dīku dzīvi un kura pasaules uztvere ir stipri tāla no realitātes. Taču tikpat tāls no realitātes ir arī viss šis romāns, kurā galvenais varonis vienā brīdī dodas apciemot romāna autoru un apsolās to nogalināt, pārejas starp realitāti un nerealitāti šeit vispār ir absolūti nosacītas un nebūtiskas. Tu bieži smiesies vēderu turēdams, bet brīžiem atzīsi, ka īstenībā Unamuno vienlaikus ir bijis arī domātājs, ne tikai komiķis, katrā ziņā šis darbs patiešām pieder literatūras zelta klasikai, kuras sērijā tas ticis izdots. Es teiktu "thumbs up!", ja nezinātu, ka šo terminu tagad ir patentējuši un kurš katrs vienkāršs cilvēks īkšķus augšā celt nedrīkst. Bet tev šo romānu izlasīt gan iesaku.

For many months according to last.fm my favourite band was The Cure (by favourite I mean - most listened to). Now at last it has slipped to the second place and has been overtaken by Alice Cooper. I may not be a rabid fan of the Coop but I certainly like him more than the Cure, so that is a positive change. Of course, it will take some time for other bands that I dig to reach similar heights but at least one thing now seems pretty sure - with Alice on the rise it is unlikely that "Uriah Heep" will ever reach the number one spot. If it were up to me I wouldn`t listen to the Heep at all anymore but as my policy is to listen to every record in my collection in a chronological order I know that at least two Heep albums are still to follow.

Ja kādam varētu ienākt prātā, ka savā otrajā ierakstā "Soft Machine" varētu būt atkāpušies no ideāliem un aizgājuši "popsas" virzienā, tad tas kāds būtu smagi kļūdīies. Protams, diez vai kādam varētu šāda doma rasties, it īpaši ņemot vērā, ka no grupas pēc pirmā albuma aizgāja tās "popsīgākais" dalībnieks - Kevins Ajerss. Līdz ar to "Volume Two" ir daudz vairāk vērsts uz eksperimentiem, brīvo džezu un vienlaikus tas joprojām ir tikpat dīvaini humoristisks kā grupas debijas ieraksts. Jau ieraksta ievadkompozīcija, kurā tiek anonsēts, ka tūliņ pilnā garumā tiks pasniegts "the British alphabet", liek tev saprast, ka šis būs viens no tiem ierakstiem, ar kuriem ir kā ar bitēm. Vēlāk alfabēts tiek pasniegts arī apgrieztā secībā, un vispār jāsecina, ka par šo ierakstu kaut ko sakarīgi pateikt es nemaz nevaru.

On May 04 there will be a maraton of Latvian films at "Cinema Riga" - all day long there will be shown Latvian "alternative" films for free. Personally I may be going to see the two folllowing programs:

When you go anywhere as a tourist it is quite common that people tell you that absolutely must do/see in this specific place. For example, if you go to Berlin, you must visit a sex museum, while in Moscow you must go and see taxidermated Lenin. So I want to make some list of 10 items or less (as in the movie) of things that you must do in Riga and Latvia (not including urinating on the Freedom monument).

"Elektrische Musik" ist die zweite Studio-Platte des ehemaliges "Kraftwerk" Perkussionistes Karl Bartos. Der Kerl hatte seine Solo Kariere angefangen, da es es nicht schön fand, daß Herren Schneider un Hütter bei ihren Schallplatten zu langsam arbeiteten und alles zu perfektionistisch benahmen. Und also gründete er sein eigenes Projekte unter dem Namen "Elektrische Musik".

It`s now been four weeks without Internet at home and I have to say that currently I`m pretty comfortable with being offine after work. The first week was really tough - regularly you think of something and want to check it up on the web but lately I don`t miss Internet that much and it`s nice for a change not to have the home PC turned on for at least 16 hours every day. Now I only turn the PC on when I want to watch a film or have something that I *really* want to do.

Toms Fogertijs vislabāk, protams, bija zināms, pateicoties viņa jaunākajam brālim Džonam, kas bija grupas "Creedence Clearwater Revival" sirds, smadzenes un dvēsele, kamēr Toms grupā bija ritma ģitārists, kas ne pārāk izcēlās kā dziesmu autors.
